Which phones support eSIM
Not every phone supports eSIM. Here is a one-second check, and the list of models.
The one-second check
Dial *#06# as if it were a phone number. Your phone shows its identifiers: if an EID line is there, it supports eSIM. No EID means no support, and you can skip the list below.
The other way: open your mobile network settings. An «Add eSIM» or «Add plan» entry only appears on phones that support it.

- iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and everything newer
- iPhone SE 2nd generation and newer
- iPad Pro, Air, mini and regular iPad in Cellular editions
Samsung
- Galaxy S20 and newer
- Galaxy Note 20 and newer
- Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold, every generation
- Some Galaxy A models, such as A54 and A55
- Pixel 3 and newer
Xiaomi
- Xiaomi 12T Pro, 13, 14 and newer
- Selected Redmi and Poco editions
Motorola
- Razr, every generation
- Edge 40 and newer

The list is not exhaustive: manufacturers add eSIM to new models faster than lists like this get updated. The *#06# check is more reliable.
When an eSIM will not install
- The phone was bought from a carrier and is locked to it. It will not accept other eSIMs, and only that carrier can unlock it.
- It is a Chinese or Hong Kong edition. Those often ship without eSIM even when the model is on the list.
- It is a tablet without a modem. Only Cellular editions have an eSIM.
